WE refer to the letter headlined, 'Angered by different rates', by Eric Ling (South China Morning Post, August 18).
We wish to thank Mr Ling for accepting our modest increase (from $198 to $208) in the monthly fee following the addition of three more channels, from 12 to 15, as part of the improvement to our programming service on June 1, and we thank him for deciding to stay with Cable TV.
As regards to Mr Ling's queries on different rates for some Cable TV subscribers, we assume Mr Ling means the special introductory discount offered to residents of public housing estates.
The special discounted offer was introduced to supersede the special promotion offer of a 'buy-one-get-one free' incentive, as well as lifting the deposit fee for set-top decoder from $300 to $500.
We hope this helps to clarify Mr Ling's misunderstanding.
