THE case in favour of aliens having crash-landed on Earth in July 1947 depends heavily on a number of eye-witnesses who say they saw the spaceship, as well as a handful of dead aliens lying around, but were prevented by the Government from talking.
These aspects of what is known as the Roswell Incident have been discussed before. In The E. T. Files (World, 9.35pm) they are discussed again - and again there are no conclusions. The questions keep on coming, but without satisfactory answers.
Two conclusions are made available to you. One is that aliens did land and that there has been a cover-up. The other is that The E. T. Files is a load of old rubbish, but still makes great television.
This evening's programme has two parts. One is the British Channel Four documentary, called The Roswell Incident. The other is a Finnish production called Encounters Of A Fifth Kind, about men and women who claim to have been abducted by little green men. These are the same men and women you will see talking to themselves on the top deck of the bus.
Their testimony is riddled with implausibilities, but is also ridiculously difficult to disprove. The only other witnesses are the little green men, and they have made themselves unavailable for comment.
IN Saviour Of The Soul II (Pearl, 9.30pm) Andy Lau and Rosamund Kwan have a close encounter of the sixth kind - he as a master swordsman and she as the Ice Virgin who is threatened by the forces of evil.
This was filmed in the Canadian wilderness and looks pretty - as do Mr Lau and Ms Kwan - but don't expect a script, or even good performances for your money.
