THE Urban Council plans to send a 15-member study group to North America to keep abreast of arts and culture policy and the use of information technology.
The council says the budget of nearly $1 million will be money well spent.
'We'll focus on the operation and management of the facilities to see whether they can be applied to Hong Kong,' said Ada Wong Ying-kei, chairman of the Working Group on Urban Council Overseas Visits.
The policy on art and culture had been reviewed and guidelines would be laid down this year, she said.
Such trips were needed every year to keep track of the rest of the world development in these fields.
'Even Macau is providing people with information kiosks and we don't want to lag behind.' said Suen Kai-cheung, a member of the working group.
