I WOULD like the Hong Kong Jockey Club to assure me and many other animal lovers I'm sure, that racing horses in the kind of overpowering heat we experienced last weekend is humane.

  I remember the racing season being much shorter in earlier years for that very reason.

  I was appalled to see that the race meeting went ahead on Sunday. Surely these beautiful creatures' welfare must come before punters' expectations.
