OCEAN Park is considering replacing Water World with a three-star hotel in a bid to increase visitors.
The aquatic park, which has suffered an $18 million drop in takings since a landslide last month, is hiring property consultants Chesterton Petty to conduct a feasibility study into the hotel project.
Several other sites are under consideration, including land near the Tai Shue Wan entry plaza.
Management are believed to be assessing the value of Water World, which is only open during summer.
Several rides, including an indoor 'dark ride', are being considered.
Ocean Park chief executive officer John Corcoran said yesterday a hotel could improve the park as an attraction.
He said it was crucial the park continued to develop new attractions and replace old ones to encourage local people to make return visits.
