WHAT A VOTER SHOULD DO Bring your ID card.

Bring your polling card.

Read election information before-hand.

Make a '?' mark for the candidate you choose, and no marks against other candidates.

If your ballot paper is in question it will be invalid.

If you make a mistake or damage the ballot paper, ask for another one. The old one will be 'spoilt'.

Remember to drop your ballot paper in the box. If you leave your ballot paper around the polling station, it will be deemed 'unused'.

You can call 2881-7056 to get information about candidates before voting.

WHAT A VOTER SHOULD NOT DO Don't try to vote if you are not eligible, or try to vote twice.

Don't damage ballot papers.

Don't loiter in the 'no staying area'.

Don't receive gifts, donations, money from canvassers.

Don't give a candidate and his canvassers money or gifts as it may count towards his election expenses.

Don't bribe or receive bribes to vote or not vote for a candidate.

Don't intimidate a candidate to withdraw his candidacy or to falsely publish he will withdraw.

Don't claim or publish false statements about a candidate's character, qualifications or conduct.

QUERIES AND COMPLAINTS Complaints about election malpractices such as breaking the no-canvassing rule or damaging publicity material should be made to polling staff, police or district officers who are patrolling the area.

Make the complaint first to the presiding officer in the polling station; otherwise, the returning officer for the constituency whose number will be posted in each polling station.

Complaints can be made on a public complaints hotline 2881-7468; you can check information on 2891-1001.

Voters who have forgotten or lost their polling cards can call the election hotline: 2827-1122.

After polling day, complaints can be made to the Boundary and Electoral Commission, the Registration and Electoral Office (REO), Complaints Committee.

Complaints about polling staff, or REO officers should be marked confidential to the Complaints Committee.

Complaints must be made within 45 days, provide name and address, and be signed if in writing.

Complainants in the polling station may not ask voters to substantiate evidence.

Voters can refuse to disclose voting choice to those conducting exit polls.

Exit poll interviewers must identify themselves to show they are not government officials.
