YOUTHS who are troubled by questions like 'What should I do when my mum and dad quarrel?' and 'Am I falling in love?' can now turn to Youthline Plus on 170-222-666 for advice.
With four lines, the Infoline System will operate alongside the existing Youthline, a popular telephone help line for young people established by the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups in July 1993.
Up till July this year, Youthline has handled a total of 704,611 calls.
'Young people's response to Youthline has been extremely positive, but there is obviously a wide gap between supply and demand,' said Rosanna Wong Yick-ming, executive director of the federation.
'Youngsters with serious problems might not be able to get through to Youthline. An Infoline System will serve to divert those who are looking for information on various topics,' she explained.
'It will also serve as a secondary public education channel.' It is expected that the infolines will be able to answer more than 250,000 calls a year or an average of 700 a day.
