I VISIT Hong Kong once a year and especially enjoy my weekly hikes on beautiful Hong Kong Island.
I usually end my hike at Tai Tam Tuk where I eat rice and noodles and have a beer at the Lok Fun store, a small restaurant close to the water's edge.
I am told that this restaurant will soon be closed, it apparently has something to do with its occupying land not zoned for business, even though it has a proper business licence.
There does not seem to be a plan to use the site for some other enterprise such as the construction of a residential block of flats.
It seems to me a pity that a small restaurant like the Lok Fun whose owners make an honest living, has to be closed due to a technicality.
This restaurant provides a valuable service to nearby residents and students at nearby schools as well as to hikers like myself who now have to find a new place to eat.
