VALLEY get their chance at So Kon Po today to prove that over 80 minutes of rugby, they are a better side than rivals Football Club. It will be their last opportunity for some time, with both teams fielding split-strength teams in the First Division League. At the Valley 15s tournament last month, Club stuffed Valley in an abridged version of the game. A question mark hovers over the fitness of club's flying winger Martin Dawson who is still struggling with an ankle injury. If he is unable to play, Anthony Couse will come in. The other player who is certain to play a huge role in Club's fortunes this season, Doug Morton, is also a doubtful starter. The giant lock forward is recovering from an infection. Two new faces in the Club pack, tight head prop Kevin Overton and blindside flanker Sacha Seneque, add to the number of newcomers in Club's first team. Valley, meanwhile, will rely on their tried and tested players. An abundance of backline talent has forced Valley to play centre Rodney McIntosh at scrum-half. The two new faces in the forwards are lock Giles Scott and blindside flanker Brent Edwards, formerly of Kowloon. It all points to an interesting game - sadly the last one for some time. Meanwhile, Union officials are keeping an eye on weather conditions at So Kon Po which was waterlogged yesterday afternoon.
