HAPPY Valley assistant coach Lo Kwok-wah fired a parting shot at club management yesterday after deciding to resign on Sunday. Scottish midfielder Gary McGinnis has been appointed to replace Lo. An indignant Lo said that the management had been giving too much favour to their foreign players which had led to discontent among their Chinese force. 'The expatriates, especially the Scottish midfielder Iain McCall, have been treated too well,' said Lo. 'They pay no respect to me or their Chinese teammates.' Lo claimed he had reported to chairman Martin Hong Po-kui many times about McCall's disciplinary problems but Hong, who took his office this summer, did not listen to him. 'And Mr Hong did not give me or the coach enough power. How can he expect me to control the players well?' Yet Hong retorted yesterday that he was not biased and the problems were not only on the foreign players' side. 'Most of our expatriates are new to Hong Kong,' said Hong. 'They may find it difficult to get used to the new environment. 'They need us to tell them what to do and that should be the assistant coach's job. 'But obviously Mr Lo did not do his job properly.' Hong said he had already told the expats to try even harder as they are expected to be better than the Chinese.
