FIFTY pieces of legislation will be introduced in the next Legco session. Among them is the controversial Broadcasting Bill, which was almost shelved by the Government because of possible Chinese anger.
No priorities have been attached to bills, but Mr Patten said all would have a direct impact on the well-being of every family in the territory.
Other major bills include the Legal Services Bill, which will implement sweeping changes in the legal profession, such as allowing solicitors to appear in the High Court to defend clients.
The bill to turn the Police Complaints Council into a statutory body will also be tabled.
The Legal Aid Services Council Bill, which lapsed in the last session, will be the first bill put forward.
Mr Patten said the legislative programme could be reviewed after taking into account Legco members' priorities and he hoped legislators could agree with the programme.
