THREE silver-haired neighbours appeared in Eastern Court yesterday for gambling in a sitting-out area of the public housing estate where they live. Wong Hoi-fat, 76, Yu Yam-kwai, 67, and Pang Chi-hung, 61, live on Yue Wan Estate, Chai Wan. They, and their 75-year-old visitor Wong Tam-fook, pleaded guilty to gambling on the estate on October 8. The four men were arrested after being caught red-handed with $260 in stakes and cards, playing sap sam cheung. Wong Hoi-fat, who had six previous gambling convictions, begged for mercy, saying he only played for fun. Magistrate Yung Yiu-wing fined each of them $300.
