THE best beach water quality readings of the year were recorded this week, just as the swimming season draws to a close. The bi-weekly samples taken by the Environmental Protection Department indicated marked improvement at 10 gazetted beaches. 'The quality is the best of the year, with no beaches falling in their rating,' a spokesman said. 'As a rule the water quality improves late in the season, but we are still pleased with this development.' Testing will be cut to once a month in November.
