SHIP management company Acomarit and its Arab partners will establish an office in Dubai to provide a full range of ship management and consultancy services. The new company will be called Acomarit-Warab. Acomarit's partners in the venture are headed by Hameed Ali, who has more than 25 years' shipping experience and held various senior executive positions in the Arab shipping community. David Short, who will be the senior fleet manager, also has extensive experience in ship management and operation of various types of vessels. Acomarit-Warab's Dubai office will be supported by Acomarit's group services and fully integrated management solutions. These will include quality systems to IMO ISM Code standard, oil pollution contingency programmes and access to about 4,000 seafarers who are contracted to work on Acomarit-managed vessels worldwide. Acomarit chief executive Giorgio Sulser said: 'I believe this is the first time a major ship management company has participated in what will be essentially an Arab ship management operation fully supported by an international network and services.' He said Acomarit's partners had the expertise to manage a quality shipping operation which was in tune with the Acomarit culture.
