LEXMARK International, one of the world's leading suppliers of network and personal printers, and related products, has won a major order from the Hong Kong Hospital Authority (HKHA) for the installation of advanced networked laser printers.
Under the deal, Lexmark will supply the authority with more than 270 printers, including 90 of the company's newly-announced LaserPrinter 4039 10 plus advanced network printers.
The order forms part of the hospital authority's efforts to de-centralise and streamline operations at hospitals throughout the territory.
Installed in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, the printers will enable staff to print documents in each ward, significantly speeding up lab report generation. Previously, lab reports and patient records were printed centrally and manually distributed to the various departments and wards.
'In a busy hospital environment our staff simply do not have time to deal with paper jams or complex operating procedures that are a feature of some printers,' Sam Yeung, systems manager at the hospital authority, said.
'After careful evaluation, we found Lexmark printers to be the most reliable, cost effective and easiest to use printers on the market.
'Having the printers where they are needed most will help improve efficiency, reduce delay and cut wasted man hours,' he added.
