HONG KONG'S art education will enter a new phase when a multi-media workshop aimed at enhancing youngsters' inspiration and confidence is launched at the end of this month.
An interdisciplinary approach involving dance, music, visual art and writing entitled 'Dancing into Sheung Wan' will be featured in a workshop jointly presented by the Urban Council and Hong Kong Ballet.
'The event, probably the first of its kind in the territory in line with the trend of an interdisciplinary approach, aims to promote all-round development among young people,' said Paul Yeung Yu-ping, chief executive of Hong Kong Ballet.
'It aims to train them to think and analyse and express themselves.' Nine renowned artists in the fields of visual arts, music, creative writing and dance will be participating in the workshop, encouraging students to develop their potential in the arts and helping them build up confidence to express themselves.
Ko Po-yee, a visual art administrator and teacher experienced in organising art education projects for children, said the workshop would provide students with a lively and vivid way of learning.
'Youths in Hong Kong do not have much access to cultural training, but the situation is changing.
