Jeweller looks to Taiwan for new growth
JEWELLERY group Chow Sang Sang Holdings International is moving into the Taiwan market, with plans to open nine outlets in two years.
Deputy general manager Vincent Chow Wing-shing said yesterday after a jewellery show by Emphasis, the group's new chain, that the group had opened an office in Taiwan.
It would open three counters and one store by the end of the year, investing $5 million in each shop.
Mr Chow said the company had chosen to expand into Taiwan because of the country's steady population growth.
'The Taiwan market has great potential,' he said, adding the group was also interested in Singapore, but had not drawn up any plans.
He dismissed suggestions that the move to expand into Taiwan was due to the weak consumer market in Hong Kong, saying the group's customers were mainly tourists, especially those from China.
