CHINA Light & Power will next month become the first utility to issue Chinese-only bills. The new-format bill will contain not only data about previous personal consumption in a graph, but also weather information that will make customers conscious of the cost of air-conditioning, a large user of electricity. But the company is dropping the bilingual format. A spokesman said customers ringing 2304-2372 could arrange bills with the information in English. Next month all 1.45 million domestic customers will find their bill has a 13-month graph showing total and monthly average consumption.
