Society Who's Who step back in time for a taste of old Shanghai
THE Regent Hong Kong rolled out the red carpet to welcome the territory's Who's Who for the grand opening of Club Shanghai.
The piazza at the Regent's main entrance was transformed into a Shanghai street scene of bygone days, complete with rickshaws, hawker stalls and an authentic Chinese quartet.
Glamorous models dressed in 1920s costumes completed the picture as they welcomed and escorted party guests resplendent in black tie and cheongsams through the elaborately decorated hotel lobby.
Guests were greeted by the evening's hosts, Regent Hong Kong general manager Thomas Axmacher and his wife Suzanne.
It was then on to a cocktail reception of champagne, caviar, smoked salmon and goose liver which preceded a sumptuous buffet dinner of Chinese and Western delicacies.
