CERRUTI is well-known as the epitome of sleek Italian tailoring. This season, a slimmer silhouette distinguishes its line of suits where comfort is the keynote. Jackets are softly constructed with small rounded shoulders as opposed to boxy styles. 'The silhouette is longer and slightly waisted. The shoulder is soft but not as soft as last summer when most people went without shoulder pads and soft fusing or very little,' said general manager Ida Yip. 'This season we are keeping light shoulder pads and light fusing, so it's soft but with a bit of body,' she said. Jackets are teamed with tubular trousers. 'They are not pressed and have a straighter line and more draping. They give a soft look with the long jacket,' Ms Yip said. The slim-fitting three-piece city suits feature elongated jackets and narrow trousers. The colour is predominantly navy blue. Browns, beige and neutrals are also important. Neutrals are also used to soften blended woven fabrics. These shades appear in tweed or herringbone, in slim single-breasted suits or double-breasted jackets over wider trousers. Like other collections, Cerruti is using texture but in refined rather than rustic fabrics.
