METALLIC tones, textured fabrics and retro are all part of the Hugo Boss collection for men this autumn-winter.
'Hugo Boss is still using a simple and thin silhouette. It is more reduced this season with smaller shoulders and armholes and it's more tapered to the body,' said Lane Crawford's merchandise manager Stephen Shek.
'Colour-wise they use a lot of sophisticated metallic tones, such as grey, silver grey and blue which have a new shiny feel, but it's not too extreme,' he said. In addition, natural colours of olive, beige and ecru are also important.
The popularity of four-button jackets is now well established. 'The single-breasted four-button is coming up with heavy treated qualities, including a special fabric that Hugo Boss uses to create the drape-like styles,' Mr Shek said.
Plain and simple fabrics have ceded the field to more textured and structured materials, which are woven with a lot of twisted and multicoloured yarns.
Three-piece suits have a presence, notably in 1960s styles with high-buttoned double-breasted jackets.
Trousers have undergone subtle changes and baggy, pleated styles are definitely out - while narrow, one-pleat trousers are in.
