FIRST Pacific Davies (FPD) is entering a joint venture partnership with CCG Contracting International, a British provider of support services to construction multinationals. The new company, to be called FPD/CCG Asia, would take advantage of the move by more multinationals to outsource all but their core business functions, according to FPD chairman David Davies. 'This strategy is expanding to cover more highly skilled and technical activities such as building management and computer services, culminating in a total management service that offers significant benefits, especially in terms of economies of scale,' he said. Mr Davies said the venture with CCG was just one of the many investments undertaken recently by FPD, representing 'part of our strategy of diversification within the property development sector'. CCG, which currently provides medical services to workers at the Chek Lap Kok airport project, is perhaps better known in England as the country's largest provider of school lunches. Overall, CCG is involved in a wide range of infrastructural services to a host of different industries in all parts of the globe. FPD/CCG would provide contractors with a comprehensive support package including property agency, management, building consultancy, project services, security, cleaning and car park management, said an FPD spokesman. Combined, they would offer multinationals a 'one-stop shop' for their non-core project needs, she said.
