MACROMEDIA'S Extreme 3D, shown at last week's MacWorld Expo '95, is an all-in-one desktop 3D solution.

It allows users to create professional-quality modelling, rendering, animation and post-production in the same application.

Andy Shum, technical support manager of PacRim Technologies, said that most features and functions found in Extreme 3D were exactly the same as those in Macromodel.

Extreme 3D comes with the Macromodel engine but with more enhancements, and some rendering and animation features, he said.

Extreme 3D comes in server and workstation modes. This allows the user to render a big project and to share the workload among workstation to another through the network.

Texture mapping is easily handled if the user wishes to import a file created in Adobe's Photoshop and animation works similarly to Macromedia's Director, although Extreme 3D can also handle time-based animation as well.
