I WAS most interested to read Andrew Robinson's letter, headlined, 'Bring back double-decker for busy route' (South China Morning Post, November 2), to which Citybus replied, to these columns, on November 6. I too eagerly await a response from Citybus to a recent communication of my own.

Whilst concurring with Mr Robinson's remarks on the retrograde changes to the 12M service, my own concern is the change in termination point of the No 12 route from Central Bus Station to the new Outlying Islands Ferries' Pier. While doubtless a worthwhile idea in principle and one which will prove most advantageous in the future, there is little point in making the route change if one does not then inform the paying passenger where he/she is going.

Thus it was that my husband and myself found ourselves at the ferries' pier, when we expected to arrive at Exchange Square, as we had always done in the past, to catch an ongoing bus to Chung Hom Kok. Surely it is elementary to indicate the change of destination by a notice at the side of the driver or at the bus-stop, if not on the front of the bus. This latter read 'Central', as it did previously. When we expressed incredulity to our driver, he shrugged in a manner which indicated we were certainly not the first passengers to be caught out in this way. In the event we lacked time and inclination to walk back to the bus station and caught a cab direct, at considerable expense.

My letter to Citybus dated October 8, outlining the circumstances and inviting comment awaits a response.
