SOUTH China swept to the top of the Hong Kong First Division when they beat Happy Valley 3-0 at the Hong Kong Stadium last night to put themselves back into the title reckoning. But rivals Instant-Dict have a chance to reclaim top spot when they take on Uhlsport-Rangers at Mongkok Stadium tonight as the first phase of the championship hots up. The Caroliners dominated the match with former Eastern skipper Lee Kin-wo opening the scoring with a 35th minute goal and then striker Alen Bajkusa and right-back Yau Kin-wai added to the tally with second-half goals. Bajkusa's goal was a deflection from a Wu Qunli free kick one minute after the interval while Yau scored a skilful 81st minute goal after picking up a pass from Pedro Xavier to seal his team's victory. South China, looking for their first league title in four seasons, are at the moment one point clear of Instant-Dict.
