THE Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra has been giving free concerts in schools for several years, and the concerts have always been well received. This year will be no exception.
The orchestra will continue to give school concerts to coincide with its 1995-96 season.
Next Monday the Hong Kong Philharmonic gives three concerts at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall.
Two of the concerts are for primary schools - 11.30 am to 12.30 pm and 2.30 pm to 3.30 pm, and the other is for secondary schools, from 4 pm to 5 pm. The orchestra will perform under the baton of the resident conductor, Yip Wing-sie.
The concert programmes have been specially drawn up to give students an understanding and appreciation of classical music.
The conductor, Ms Yip, will introduce the works on the programme, and with solo demonstrations given by the players, the students will gain a good understanding of orchestral music as well as the instruments of the orchestra.
