Man, 76, dragged by train

A 76-YEAR-OLD man was in fair condition last night after he became trapped in the door of a KCR train and was dragged along the platform.

The accident happened at 12.20 pm after the train arrived at the Tai Wo station from Lo-wu, said a spokesman for the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation.

The man, Cheung Ngo, apparently decided to leave the train at the last minute but a nylon bag he was carrying became trapped in the closing door.

He lost his balance and was dragged 14 metres along the platform before the train came to an emergency stop, the spokesman said.

KCR said both the driver and the station supervisor monitor passengers moving in and out of the train.

Engineers would meet to discuss the accident, she added.
