THE swimmers of Pui Shing Catholic Secondary School were treated to perfect weather for the school's annual swimming gala held recently in Yuen Long Public Swimming Pool. At the opening ceremony, school principal Thomas Chiu urged all the students to take up swimming as it was a basic and essential skill, as well as a good exercise for the body. The highlight of the morning was a demonstration of live-saving techniques. In his address after the prize-giving, special guest Leung Kwok-yuen, who is service manager of the Yan Chai Hospital Social Service Centre, said he enjoyed the 'family-like' atmosphere of Pui Shing, and hoped that students would seize every opportunity to learn. 'This is the prime time of your life - make the most of it,' Mr Leung said. Brown House won the grand championship, while Wong Ka-kuen of Blue House and Lau Kan-lut of Green House won the boys' senior and junior championships respectively. Chong Lo-ming of Brown House and Lam Shu-ngan of Red House were the best girls' senior and junior swimmers respectively.
