AN estimated US$350 million was bet on the outcome of the Dallas Cowboys-San Francisco 49ers American Football game at Texas Stadium, Dallas, on Sunday.

According to reports, most of the bets were illegal and it was the most heavily gambled game in the National Football League so far this season.

Illegal football gambling in the United States is always a concern for NFL administrators. This was magnified by the massive money wagered on the Dallas-San Francisco game. It is estimated that about US$1 billion a week is bet illegally on sport in the country. San Francisco won the game 38-20.
