TAI Po Centre was one of the worst performers last year, according to property analysts. The Your Home Index shows the price for the complex increased only five per cent over the first 11 months of the year. In contrast, prices in the overall market achieved 18 per cent growth on average. The survey, carried by Brooke Hillier Parker for Sunday Money, revealed flats of Tai Po Centre was sold for $2,620 per square foot in November against $2,492 in January. Tai Po is not easily accessible and this is believed to be an important reason for its underperformance this year. Tai Po Centre buyers expect a road system linking it to the town centre to be built. However, a decision has yet to be made. In 1990, prices at Tai Po Centre increased 14 per cent while it achieved a rapid growth of 69 per cent last year on the back of the property market boom.
