A 41-YEAR-OLD man and his young lover have been arrested on suspicion of stealing clothes, shoes and handbags from shopping arcades and re-selling the goods to their friends. Senior Inspector Chan Kam-ying of Mongkok district's Crime Support Team said at least 200 shops had been hit by a pair of shoplifters since May. 'They would steal two to three pieces from each shop. One of them drew the attention of the sales staff or acted as a lookout,' he said. 'They told their friends they were connected to the shops and could get discounts if their friends wanted to buy something.' A 25-year-old woman was stopped and two leather jackets worth $2,000 were seized in a Mongkok boutique on Wednesday. More than 180 items worth $100,000 were later seized during a raid on a Boundary Street flat. The goods ranged from a $3.50 key ring to a $3,500 Dunhill bag. Others included leather jackets, trousers, dresses, shoes and wallets.
