A TORMENTED lover who repeatedly asked a housewife to marry him threatened to exhibit nude photographs of the woman and even kill her, it was alleged in the District Court yesterday. The defendant, 43, denies four charges of criminal intimidation and a charge of blackmail for $100,000. Prosecutor Robert Lee told the court that the man became familiar with the woman while they both worked in a supermarket. It was claimed that he visited her while she was alone at home in early March last year. The 32-year-old woman told the court that as she answered the telephone, the defendant fondled her shoulders and forced her into sex. A few days later, he had again visited the flat. It was claimed he undressed himself and the woman and took photographs of her in various poses. She told the court she could not refuse his request because he was too strong. They then had sex for a second time, the woman said. It was alleged that the defendant refused to give the nude photographs back. In May, he had told the woman he wanted to marry her and asked her to divorce her husband. The woman said she initially considered divorcing her husband but they were eventually reconciled and the couple and their two sons moved into a new apartment. However, the defendant continued to telephone the woman asking her to live with him, the court heard. It was claimed the man threatened to show the nude pictures in a public place. He had then had sex with the woman again. On another occasion, it was alleged, he demanded $100,000 from the woman. The court heard that in May she told him to meet her at her flat, where her husband was waiting for him. The trial continues before Judge Bailey.
