DISCOVERY BAY'S royal bride, Alexandra Manley, was due last night to meet Prince Joachim's former long-time girlfriend for the first time at a glittering pre-wedding ball in a Copenhagen palace.
Most of Scandinavia's young royals were expected to attend the huge party in the 18th-century Amalienborg Palace organised by Prince Joachim's brother, Prince Frederik.
Although Alexandra would be the undoubted star of the show, the prince's former girlfriend, blonde model Iben Plesner Detlefs, 29, was bound to steal some of the limelight.
Prince Joachim ended their relationship of several years while working in Hong Kong for the Danish shipping line Maersk.
It would be the first time Alexandra had met many of the European royals and nobility with whom she will be expected to mix in future.
The exiled young Greek Prince Nikolaos and Princess Alexia were attending along with Prince Joachim's good friend from his Hong Kong days, Brian Ruben Petersen.
Others included friends who helped organise his stag night on a Danish island last weekend and colleagues from the armed forces.
