The Party's having fun

THE five members of the United States group, The Party, shared more than a love for music - they were also members of the Mickey Mouse Club.

Damon Pampolina, Deedee Magno, Chase Hampton, Albert Fields and Tiffini Hale, all under 18 years old, first met in 1988 at the Mickey Mouse Club, a variety show for children broadcasted on the Disney Channel.

The group's singing potential was spotted by Hollywood Record two years ago, and their debut album The Party saw them launched on their career.

The Party favours a variety of beats including funk, rap and hip-hop.

''I love singing and everything we have done so far. In the Mickey Mouse Club, I sang, acted and danced. But I think singing is my strongest point, and the one I am enjoying most,'' Deedee said.

''Since I was a child, my dream was to be a good performer and a successful entertainer, and now it has really come into being,'' she said.

Albert said: ''Singing is the best way of expression for me rather than speaking; I can actually sing what I like and what I dislike, what I love and what I hate.'' Damon said the Mickey Mouse Club was a good stepping stone because it gave him a chance to learn about everything, from singing to dancing and acting.

The Party's debut album sold more than 300,000 copies in England and the US.

One song, In My Dreams, entered the top 40 positions in the Billboard charts.

The five members recently visited the territory to promote their second album, Free. (See below for free CD offer).

The album includes dance beat numbers such as Free, Change On Me, I Want You and Frontin'.

There are also other catchy numbers like Where is My Romeo, All About Love and It's Out of My Heart.

Damon told Young Post that since some of their songs had been re-made in Asia, he thought Asians wanted their music and so they were in Hongkong to check on the market.

''Visiting Hongkong is quite an education for me since I have the chance to see different cultures and different ways of living,'' Chase said.

Tiffini, meanwhile, said she hoped their music would become known all over the world.

The Party is slated to return to the territory for a live performance.
