Last-ditch fund call

THE Mandatory Provident Fund Scheme could be used to improve the welfare of the elderly, Rafael Hui Si-yan, the Secretary for Financial Services, said in a last-minute attempt to lobby Legislative Councillors.

With opposition from Democrats and unionists, there are doubts whether the Government's application for funding will be passed in the Finance Committee tomorrow.
