A DELEGATION led by the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office stayed clear of controversial issues at meetings with senior government officials yesterday. Economic Affairs Department head, Zhang Liangdong, who is in charge of contentious issues such as Container Terminal 9, declined to say whether there had been progress on the issue or the northwest railway project. Mr Zhang was speaking after meeting Chief Secretary Anson Chan Fang On-sang. He is leading a team of officials who are learning about government operations. The team also met Secretary for Constitutional Affairs Nicholas Ng Wing-fui. Mr Zhang said he and Mrs Chan had agreed such visits were useful. He said he previously had little idea on the working of government branches.
