The first voyage was made by 600 teu Mikhail Svetlov from Shekou Container Terminals on Friday.

Kua Hock Eng, RCL's general manager for North Asia, said the Friday calls would provide an important link between southern China and Bangkok.

'Southern China is a big importer of Thai products, including rice, while manufactured goods from the regional are in great demand in Thailand,' he said.

The company also operates weekly feeder services between Hong Kong and Yantian, and Hong Kong and Xiamen.
