CHINA plans to celebrate the return of Hong Kong with gold and silver commemorative coins.
The People's Bank of China will issue the three coins, two gold and one silver, on Friday. One side will be engraved with images of Deng Xiaoping, doves of peace and Hong Kong's skyline, as well as the words 'one country, two systems'. The other side will carry images of the main gate of Tiananmen, ornamental columns, the peony, the People's Republic of China and year of issue. One gold 60-millimetre coin with five ounces of gold will have a face value of 500 yuan (HK$465), a 27 mm coin will contain a half-ounce of gold and cost 50 yuan, and a 40 mm silver coin will contain one ounce of silver and have a value of 10 yuan.
