Centre to help HKCEE students

A SERIES of programmes and courses for Form 5 students will be launched to better equip them with the necessary skills to tackle the forthcoming Hongkong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE).

Prepared by the YMCA's Children and Youth Centre, a talk on ''Tips on Tackling the HKCEE Challenge'', given by Hok Yau Club staff will be held on January 16.

Topics including strategies of devising the revision schedule; ways of reinforcing memory; proper study skills; examination skills and pressure release skills will be discussed.

Admission fee is $20 for members and $25 non-members.

A short-term oral English course, aimed at helping students to handle the HKCEE English Language (Syllabus B) Oral Examination, started last week and is scheduled to end on June 6.

The course, in eight lessons (each Saturday) and costs $370 for members and $420 non-members, will include activities such as picture description, dialogue reading and guided conversation.

In addition, there will be a workshop on the HKCEE composition to introduce students an understanding of the way a certificate composition is marked and the qualities the examination looks for.

Knowledge in choosing the appropriate topic and procedures to plot a well-structured composition, including how to build up an introductory paragraph, develop one's thoughts into the body.

Held in three sessions between February 13 and 27, the workshop costs $80 for members and $100 non-members.
