HONG KONG'S Omni Hotels group is looking for another hotel to operate in Singapore.
And it might start by bidding in land sales through Singapore-listed associate Marco Polo Developments, Omni Hotels Asia-Pacific president Michael Kalyk said.
He said the new property could be a large commercial complex with perhaps a 400-room business-class hotel to be run by Omni Hotels.
Mr Kalyk is confident that the right class of hotel in the right location is still viable, despite the substantial increase in hotel rooms this year and over the next few years.
The Omni Hotels group is a wholly owned subsidiary of Wharf Holdings.
Wharf, in turn, is a major shareholder of Marco Polo Developments.
The group plans to have 20 hotels in the Asia-Pacific region by 2000.
