CATHAY Pacific Airways has been added to the list of airlines affected by the strike at Boeing, with the delivery date for its first two twin-engined 777s now pushed back by an estimated eight weeks.
An airline spokesman said the certification programme for the Rolls-Royce Trent engine powered wide-bodies was still on schedule, but the previously promised March delivery for the first pair was surely pushed back.
Two 777s are already flying in Cathay's colours - one undergoing engine certification and the other Etops, the certification to allow a twin-engined jet to fly a certain amount of time over water.
The airline was due to take delivery of aircraft three and four in the first quarter next year.
Those, however, are still on the production line. Aircraft one and two, although built earlier, are to be delivered in June and August next year after testing is completed.
The airline has 11 firm orders placed on 777s and holds options to purchase another 11.
'Three and four are being held up by the strike,' the spokesman said.
