CONSTANT tension between migrant workers and villagers in Longtian, Shenzhen, is believed to be the cause of a weekend clash in which at least three people were killed and more than 60 injured.
One migrant worker from Hunan was allegedly shot dead by anti-riot police who reportedly opened fire when about 500 workers stormed the Communist Party office after police arrested dozens of them.
Another worker was said to have been beaten to death by the police.
Unconfirmed reports said a security guard hired by the local police was killed by workers in the brawl. Ten of the injured were reportedly in critical condition.
Officials from Beijing, Guangdong and Hunan are investigating.
