Second straight win brings New Territories team to top
VINCENT CHEUNG Cheuk-yin led the New Territories Regional B (NTB) team to the top of the highly competitive Fujifilm Junior Squash League after beating German Swiss International School (GSIS) for their second straight win.
NTB is the only team to win two out of two and they head the under-18 standings with eight points, two ahead of GSIS and Harmony.
Vincent crushed promising Paul Ng Yuk-yeung in straight games and Billy Chan wrapped up the match for NTB with a 3-1 victory over Paul's brother, Peter Ng Yuk-fung.
Rajesh Nihalani saved GSIS from a whitewash by beating Chan Ka-ki 15-6, 15-8, 16-17, 15-8 in the clash of the number threes.
Harmony (Yan Ka-ho, Roger Ngan Lun-cheung and Saboor Aziz) made amends for the first-round defeat by taking full points off Kowloon Cricket Club. Hong Kong Regional B team and Kowloon shared pole position in the under-15 division following victories over New Territories Regional B and New Territories Regional A, respectively.
'The league is a lot more competitive with the introduction of regional teams, and the matches are a lot closer,' said Tony Choi Yuk-kwan, coaching director of the Hong Kong Squash Racquets Association.
