HONG Kong Football Club A met another setback in their First Division men's hockey league title defence when they went down 3-1 to former champions Shaheen at King's Park yesterday.
It was Club's second consecutive defeat and the third altogether, but captain Colin Cooper took it bravely and said: 'It's not the end of us yet because we've still got to play the other teams at least one more time.
'We didn't play too well today but it was better than last week [when they lost 4-2 to Pakistan Association A]. However, it just wasn't good enough because when you play Shaheen, you've got to play your best.' Club started off promisingly with stand-in centre-forward Robert Clift finding the net only seven minutes into the game.
They continued to dictate until the 25th minute when Deric Leung Kai-yip equalised against the run of play, and Nawab Din Ziez added another goal to put Shaheen 2-1 up at half-time.
Ishtiag Khan scored via an Asif Ali pass to seal the game for Shaheen in the 64th minute.
'We were more determined to win this game because we couldn't afford to drop any more points, so we were pressing forward all the time,' said jubilant Shaheen manager Shaukat Khan. A goal in each half by Robin Markbreiter gave the depleted Kowloon Cricket Club A a 2-0 victory over HKFC C at Happy Valley.
