HONG KONG's rowing star Ho Kim-fai was chosen as the NIKE/HKSI Athlete of the Month for November. following her quality performance at the Asian Championships 1995 in Shanghai. The Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) scholarship athlete won a silver medal in the women's lightweight single sculls and set a national record of seven minutes and 49.54 seconds. Ho also collected a gold medal in the lightweight double sculls and a silver medal in the open doubles, both with Ng Kar-loc. At the awards presentation, Ho received a trophy, a cash prize of $5,000 and $3,000 worth of NIKE products. Ho, who was nominated by the Hong Kong Amateur Rowing Association, was delighted to win the title, which has already recognised the territory's top athletes, including Lee Lai-shan, Chai Po-wa, Wong Kam-po, Cha Tan-lui and Chan Man-yee. She said 1996 will be an important year for her as she has set her sights on the Olympic Games. 'I took part in the singles event in the last Olympics and would be very happy if I can enter the doubles in Atlanta,' she said.
