ABOUT 1,800 students took part in Ning Po No 2 College's ninth sports day, held recently at the Kowloon Bay Sports Ground. Twelve records were set, and the overall championship went to Class 4C. Guest-of-honour Mrs Ho Chan-lin, Inspector (Physical Education) of the Education Department, praised the winners for their achievement and encouraged the others to keep trying. One of the highlights of the two-day event was the teacher-student relay. The record-breakers included Sum Sui-wai, who finished the boys' Grade C 800 m race in 2 minutes 29.69 seconds, while Wong Pui-man finished the same event for the girls' Grade C in 3 min 10.33 sec. Chan Chi-ming set a record of 55.70 m in the boys' Grade C softball throw. Cheuk Kai-chung ran well in the boys' Grade B 800 m and 1,500 m, setting records of 2 min 22.43 sec and 4 min 58.51 sec, respectively. His classmate, Lo Hon-lun, jumped a record 10.34 m in the boys' Grade B triple jump. Hon Wai-nga broke the girls' Grade B 100 m record in 14.89 sec. More records were broken in Grade A events with Hui Man-chiu finishing the 100 m in 11.73 sec and setting a record in the shot put. Choi Lap-man finished the 800 m in 2 min 20.2 sec. Cheuk Sai-chung finished the 1,500 m in 5 min 3.09 sec, and Yung Ka-cheung finished the 400 m in 56.39 sec.
