IF all the 20,000 smiling faces present at a recent RTHK show should turn serious and take up the fight against crime, then Hong Kong will have a powerful army indeed in the anti-crime drive.

Eleven pop stars entertained the huge crowd at Fanling Public Playground for the 'fight crime' show, which was organised by Radio 1 of RTHK and the Northern District Fight Crime Committee.

The artists were Andy Lau, Cass Phang, Sammi Cheng, Charlie Young, Leo Koo, Christine Ng, Jeffrey Chang, Andy Hui, Winnie Lau, Hacken Lee and Ekin Cheng.

Compered by Ng Ka-lim and Chin Pui-hing, the show carried the message that a general effort from the public was needed to combat crime and drug abuse.

'As Christmas is approaching, most youngsters can be easily led astray.

'That's why we have launched this fight crime show,' said organiser Fung Wai-tong of RTHK.
