CHINA Apollo Holdings has issued an announcement clarifying that its 95 per cent owned subsidiary Guangdong Apollo (Group) Co has carried out production of products in compliance with relevant Chinese laws since being fined by the Chinese authorities in 1991.
The company said under Chinese law, Guangdong Apollo was required to submit the raw materials used in its tonic drinks products and the respective proportions to authorities for approval.
In order to safeguard the formulas of two products, the formulas submitted did not correspond to those actually used in the products.
As a result, Guangdong Apollo was fined two million yuan (about HK$1.84 million) by the Dongguan Health Bureau in December 1991 and ordered to suspend production until the correct formulas were tested and approved.
Since then Guangdong Apollo has not received any complaints from the mainland authorities.
