A GROUP of prominent engineers including Sir Sze-yuen Chung will set up a powerful lobby group to champion the interests of the profession. The group, known as 'The Hong Kong Association for the Advancement of Participation of Engineers in Society, will be chaired by former President of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers Dr Raymond Ho Chung-tai. Former secretary for lands and works Nicky Chan Nai-keong will serve as the president of the association and Sir Sze-yuen, political heavyweight and Preliminary Working Committee member, had pledged to support the group. According to Dr Ho, the group will train up and encourage more engineers to take part in direct elections. 'Because functional constituencies may disappear in the next decade and engineers will have to get their members in through the direct election route,' he said.
