LEADING Japanese car maker Toyota is to reorganise its overseas divisions to strengthen regional operations. Toyota says the changes, to take effect from January 1, will particularly strengthen operations in North America and Europe. The Americas Project Division will be dismantled, the functions being divided among the Americas Group covering North America, Latin America and the Caribbean. It will also dismantle its Europe and Africa Project Division, those functions going to the Europe and Africa Group. As a result of the move, and reorganisation of production and engineering, operational divisions will fall from 221 to 218. Personnel changes will see strengthening of non-car businesses, such as housing, information and telecommunications.
